Il blog e la mia esperienza con la rete si chiudono qui. Ho bisogno di altre modalità espressive.

Ringrazio chi mi ha seguito fin qui, anche in questi ultimi mesi di rarefazione sempre più accentuata. Stare un po' di mesi lontano dalla rete mi farà bene.

Auguro a tutti buone giornate e nuovi e fruttiferi sentieri da percorrere.

Sonnet #10

You rose from our embrace and the small light spread
like an aureole around you. The long parabola
of neck and shoulder, flank and thigh I saw
permute itself through unfolding and unlimited
minuteness in the movement of your tall tread,
the spine-root swaying, the Picasso-like éclat
of scissoring slender legs. I knew some law
of Being was at work. At one time I had said
that love bestows such values, and so it does,
but the old man in his canto was right and wise:
ubi amor ibi ocullus est.
Always I wanted to give and in wanting was
the poet. A man now, aging, I know the best
of love is not to bestow, but to recognize.

Ti levasti dal nostro abbraccio e la piccola luce si diffuse
come un'aureola attorno a te. La lunga parabola
di collo e spalla, fianco e coscia io vidi
permutare se stessa attraverso una crescente ed illimitata
minutezza nel movimento della tua alta falcata,
l'ondeggiare della tua spina e radice, l'ostentato mostrarsi
di sforbicianti gambe sottili. Sapevo che una qualche legge
dell'Essere era all'opera. Una volta dissi
che è amore ad assegnare tali valori, e così è,
ma il vecchio nel suo canto era nel giusto e saggio:
ubi amor ibi ocullus est.
Sempre ho voluto dare e mancante era
il poeta. Uomo ora, ed invecchiato, so che il meglio
dell'amore non è donare, ma riconoscere.

He is moved by a foolish queen            E' mosso da una stupida regina
who cuts across the board                 Che taglia per la scacchiera
lengthwise and diagonally.                di lungo o in diagonale.
She doesn’t tire of carrying the medals   Non si stanca di portare medaglie
and cursing the bishops.                  E maledire gli alfieri.

She is a poor queen                     Lei è una povera regina
moved by a reckless king                Mossa da un re senza scrupoli
who counts the squares every day      Che conta i riquadri ogni giorno
and claims that they are diminishing.   E dice che stanno diminuendo.
He arranges the knights and rooks       Lui sposta cavalieri e torri
and dreams of a stubborn opponent.      E sogna un avversario caparbio.

He is a poor king                        Lui è un povero re
moved by an experienced player         Mosso da un giocatore esperto
who rubs his head                        Che si gratta la testa
and loses his time in an endless game.   E perde il suo tempo in un gioco senza fine.
He is a poor player                      Lui è un povero giocatore
moved by an empty life                   Mosso da una vuota esistenza
without black or white.                  Priva di bianchi o neri.

It is a poor life                     E' una povera vita
moved by a bewildered god             Mossa da un dio agitato
who once tried to play with clay.     Che una volta tentò di giocare con la creta.
He is a poor god.                     Lui è un povero dio.
He doesn’t know how                   Non sa come
to escape                           sfuggire

In some order
Is not the same thing
As the inner poise
That’s poetry
The truth of poetry
Is the truth
Of being.
It’s an experience
Of truth.
No ornaments
Survive
A crucible.
Fire reveals
Only molten
Gold.
Says Tuka
We are here
To reveal.
We do not waste
Words.
